Machines aren’t the first thing that come to mind when you think of the Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble, a Berlin-based group that interprets house and techno conventions using acoustic instruments. So what does it mean that their forthcoming album for K7 is called “Mr. Machine”?

If anything, it appears that the Ensemble is the machine. Having expanded into a 10-piece lineup that performs completely live—complete with some 80 pages of sheet music per track—they now take that approach back into the studio, with lessons learned on stage driving the shape of their new recordings.

“Mr. Machine” is out on October 25; for now, check out their debut album ”You Make Me Real,” whose track “Paparazzi” was used on ”M.A.N.D.Y. Presents Body Language Volume 10” earlier this year.
