Boys Noize remixes Scissor Sisters
Boys Noize remixes Scissor Sisters
18 August, 2010 | 8.15AMNew York’s disco-pop revivalists Scissor Sisters
come sashaying into our hearts this week with three new remixes of ‘Invisible Light’, sparking a fire where the sun don’t shine—the nightclub, of course.
Released on Boysnoize Records
, the remixes—by Boys Noize, Stuart Price (aka Jacques Lu Cont), and Siriusmo—spin the track in three different ways, offering plenty of potential for DJs of all stripes. Check them out after the jump.
Scissor Sisters, ‘Invisible Light (Boys Noize Remix)’
Boys Noize
delivers an energetic electro-disco rework that sets the band’s refrain to gritty synth arpeggios and analog drum machines. At around 120 BPM, it’s slower and sleazier than much of the electro house that the Berlin producer is typically associated with, and that’s very much a good thing. Between his work for Rihanna, Gonzales, the Black Eyed Peas, and now this, Boys Noize is turning out to be way more versatile than anyone might have expected just a couple of years ago.
Scissor Sisters, ‘Invisible Light (Stuart Price Remix)’
Stuart Price—aka Jacques Lu Cont, Les Rythmes Digitales, Thin White Duke, et al—sticks to a similar base of blippy arpeggios, but it’s cleaner and sweeter than Boys Noize’s version; there’s something faintly Caribbean about the muted guitars, while dubbed-out keys take things into Balearic waters. A great selection for warming up or winding down.
Scissor Sisters, ‘Invisible Light (Siriusmo Remix)’
Finally, Siriusmo—frequently found skulking around on records from Bpitch Control, Gomma, allyoucanbeat, and Modeselektor’s Monkeytown imprint—turns in an idiosyncratic remix that balances chunky disco drumming with overdriven talk-box effects.
