Bomb Alert! Radio Slave remixes Ripperton
30 June, 2010 | 5.05AMIt’s been a minute since we presented a Bomb Alert, but if this isn’t occasion for taking cover in a bunker somewhere, I don’t know what is. Radio Slave
has pulled out all the stops on two new remixes of Ripperton’s ‘Leonor’s Lanugo’, on Joris Voorn’s Green![[a]](http://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif)
label.
‘Leonor’s Lanugo (Radio Slave Remix Part 2)’
The original, which appeared on Perspectiv in March 2009 and reappeared this year on his album ‘Niwa’, was a deep, moody cut featuring inky atmospheres and tentative synthesizer melodies. An echo of the top line is preserved in Radio Slave’s ‘Remix Part 2’, which beefs up the track’s impact with sub-bass throb and crisp percussion. But it’s his ‘Remix Part 1’ that really takes the tune into another world, smearing the melody into a faint layer of drones to focus its attention on an endless, evolving groove.
‘Leonor’s Lanugo (Radio Slave Remix Part 1)’
It’s quintessential Radio Slave, but there’s something about it that elevates it above his standard operating procedure. Not an obvious banger, but all the more seductive for it: this is bathyscaphe techno, taking you 20,000 leagues deep.
