Body Rhythm goes ‘Back In Time’ with Ross Couch

Body Rhythm goes ‘Back In Time’ with Ross Couch

Next from the impressive Body Rhythm stable is label boss Ross Couch [a] with the genre defying ‘Back In Time EP’.

Thankful we’re not to be disappointed, offering number four is a collection of beats that border several styles without ever dipping their toes fully in one.

The title-track a typical example of what’s in store - an incessant hybrid of tech-house and burbling progressive beats.

What the title refers to is anyone’s guess, but what the music relates to is Bedrock at its peak, Twilo back-in-the-day heaving to the sounds of Tenaglia or Lee Burridge on a twisted deck mission.

Think dark, trippy and dirty beats from the Danny Howells school of funky house.

‘One Day’ goes even deeper and dubbier with near afrocentric backing accompanying the lite-house backdrop, while ‘The Sunday Matinee’ displays Ross’ eclectic taste and concocts another moody masterpiece by fusing jazzy rhythms and old movies scores to swinging house tempos.

It all rounds off with another strong head-nodding house cut in ‘For You’ that’s a member of the less-is-more family.

Simple backing adlibs compliment a spoken top-line, underpinned with a funky-house backdrop made up of soaring strings, swishing hi-hats and a tight kick that beats out its rhythm to maximum effect.

Subtle yet deliciously sweet.
