30 May, 2007 | 1.37AMOriginally released back in 2002 on this Submerge-affiliated label, the mysterious Body Mechanic’s ‘The Danze’ (sic) harks back to a time before electro was co-opted by ‘big room’ DJs.
Sure, ‘The Danze’ has a murky, grinding bass, but it works in harmony with droning, detuned sounds and brittle, skipping rhythms rather than a cheesy house backing.
‘PeaceOfMine’ is of a similar nature, and the resonating drums and lurching, ominous bass make for a more intense experience.
