TJ Kong and Nuno Dos Santos feat. R...
2 March, 2008 | 7.36AM- Section: Music Reviews
Dutch DJ/Producers TJ Kong and Nuno Dos Santos are rapidly making a name for themselves with their wide ranging musical vision.
Here on the release of ‘Merging’ they enlist the vocal talents oh house music royalty, Robert Owens.
Owens’ delivery reminds us why he is held in such high regard with one of the most unique and recognisable voices to float out from a speaker.
Consequently the track is, for the first half at least, a simple hypnotic builder which uses a repetitive organ bass as a platform for the vocal to set the mood and build up the aural pressure which finally gives way around the six minute mark.
Here, after some rolling drums and Murk style effects, the full impact of ‘Merging’ is let loose with a dark synth line providing a dark moody edge.
The Wild Glitch Dub is a slightly more uplifting experience, thanks to the inclusion of an excellent rubber bass sound and elongated strings.
These, however, are not introduced until well into the track, Kong and Dos Santos again using a patient build up to draw the listener in.
If you’re looking to inject your set with a dose of deep dark vibes, you won’t go wrong with this release.
