Beta Sampler // Perc, Chevel, Frank Martiniq, Sasse

A sample is a small part of the whole, selected because it’s a premier example of its class. Stroboscopic Artefacts present the Beta Sampler, showcasing four startling fresh cuts. Perc [a], Chevel [a], Frank Martiniq [a] and Sasse [a] all fine purveyors of techno, create tracks that fuse together their own visions with the label’s identity.

A sample is a small part of the whole, selected because it’s a premier example of its class. Stroboscopic Artefacts present the Beta Sampler, showcasing four startling fresh cuts. It was Perc [a]’s unique blend of big dub rumbles and percussive drive on his Ovum releases that caught Stroboscopic Artefacts’ attention. From this exacting mind comes the brilliant “Wooden Art”. Over a bed of bubbling dub, dystopian pads slice through a gnashing wall of beat patterns. Next comes “Trevisun”, with its Detroit minimalistic approach. Chevel [a] brings us a perfectly dizzying 10am track, replete with lopsided beats, viscous synths and definite nods towards imprint like Klockworks and M-Plant. Then Frank Martiniq [a] transports us to an enchanted afterhours land with “My Visor”, hinting also to the mood of his forthcoming Stroboscopic Artefacts solo release. This dubtechno masterpiece takes us back to a time where the elegance of synthesis and dubbing was of paramount importance. The baton is lastly handed to Berlin house giant Sasse [a] who proudly pushes his sound in a totally new direction on “Face2Face With Reality”. Here Sasse [a] collides his house instincts with dub know-how, creating an inspirational hybrid. The vocal announces a self assured “Yes!” and it has to be agreed with, this is killer dance floor stuff.

The Beta Sampler was craftily mastered in-house at Artefacts Mastering Studio, Berlin.
