Berlin Love Parade Scrapped
23 April, 2007 | 8.06AM- Section: Music News Topics: Berlin
Politics and bureaucracy have ruined the world’s biggest dance event say the organisers of the Berlin Love Parade.
Despite last year’s successful reincarnation of the annual street parade after a two year hiatus, the Love Parade will not take place this year because its organisers have cited political and bureaucratic differences with Berlin’s city council.
Instead a copycat Berliner Dance Parade or B Parade will take place on 21st July 2007, without the backing of Love Parade’s two top boys Dr. Motte
and Rainer Schalle.
It’s unclear how different the new parade will be from the old, but it is understood that a number of the world’s top DJs have not yet wholeheartedly backed it.
One of the reasons might be that Love Parade’s organisers are planning to take their event to another German city, like Hamburg or Cologne.
