Beatport presents the Laurent Garnier remix contest

Beatport presents the Laurent Garnier remix contest

Beatport has teamed up with France’s undisputed king of eclecticism Laurent Garnier for a special remix contest.

The Frenchman is offering up remix parts to his 2009 hit ‘Gnanmankoudji’, an Afro-inspired deep house cut, to his fans, who are then able to remix it for themselves.

The opportunity

From January 19th, 2010, Beatport users are able to download the remix parts of Laurent Garnier ‘Gnanmankoudji’, and then remix it at home, before uploading it to Beatportal for a vote.

The prizes

The winners will be divided into 2 categories; 10 user voted (based on the highest number of spins) and 10 Editor’s Favourites (picked by Beatport’s interntal music staff). From these 20 nominees, PIAS and Laurent Garnier will choose their favorite winning remix, to be released on the PIAS label as well as receive:

1 - Native Instrument Traktor Kontrol X1
1 - $200 Beatport gift card

The stages

1. January 19th - January 26th 2010: Download phase - The remix parts of ‘Gnanmankoudji’ for $3.99 USD.

2. January 26th - February 8th:  Upload/Submission phase - Upload your remix to Beatportal to www.beatportal.com/remix. During this phase the entries can be listened to, but not voted for.

3. February 9th - February 23rd: Voting phase - The public votes for their favorite remixes by ‘spinning’ them.

After a period of deliberation, the winner will be announced on or around March 9th, 2010.

The rules

1. Download the remix parts to ‘Gnanmankoudji’ from January 19th - January 26th 2010. You may purchase the stems bundled at $3.99 USD. Remixes created using illegally obtained stems will be disqualified from the contest.

2. Remix the track into your chosen style. All genres are welcome.

3. Submit your remix to Beatportal’s remix page. MP3 files sizes are limited and may be no larger than 10 MB.
