Beatport launches new dubstep page

As the growing popularity of dubstep rises, Beatport has shown its support by giving the genre its own interactive landing page.

2008 has been a massive year for dubstep; right from the very beginning with Burial’s soon to be seminal album, ‘Untrue’ through to Giles Peterson’s record of 2007 finally being released, Benga & Coki’s ‘Night’.

We can only fathom this to be the beginning of what is turning out to a worldwide phenomenon.

What with a forthcoming Burial mix to be released within the next few weeks on !K7 Records, Skream to produce the next in the ‘Watch This Ride’ mix series, and news that Sub Soldiers legend, Ruskois working with the some of the biggest names in house music, we expect 2009 to be an even bigger year for dubstep.

If you happen to be new to the scene, then there is much to catch up on, from the deep sounds of Martyn through to the tribal, percussive beats of Shackleton.

You may be into the techno rhythms of 2562, or just be a big club junkie into the jump up sound of Caspa.

For those of a darker disposition who prefer noise and industrial beats, then Scorn will appease, or you could be into the grimier material of Darkstar.

Either way there’s something for a bit of everyone.
