Chuck Love [Om Records]

Minneapolis producer and OM roster member Chuck Love unleashes a pretty ghastly number here, although owing to a couple of decent remixes, the project is somewhat salvaged.

The Original suffers from a problem you would not usually associate with a producer with as many releases under his belt — the track is far, far too busy, almost to the point of annoyance.

At its core is a lovely, mid-set Chicago House groove just waiting to be released, but it’s totally drowned in a sea of silly vocals, one-shot snatches and wayward bass notes.

Jimpster, being the canny fella he is, recognizes this point, and strips the track right down to its underpants.

The favourable synth line from the Original makes the cut and although the vocals remain nearly intact, they do so in a more tasteful manner.

South African native Troydon’s remix is like a southern hemisphere tribute to Switch, which is in no way a bad thing.

Electronic itchiness, cut up vocals and random Jazzy drops make up a vastly improved take on the source material.

Tres Manos slaps a huge wobbly bass line onto the table and accompanies it with some arpeggiated synth blips and modulated percussion, which again, improves on what went before.

The production line at OM need to focus a little more on quality as appose to quantity in future we thinks.
