Battles feat. Matias Aguayo: Ice Cream

Kompakt’s Matias Aguayo teams up with Battles on their new single, “Ice Cream,” and it’s just as odd as you might expect from the pairing. The Warp label’s resident prog rockers dig into a bright, summery groove that’s somewhere between Vampire Weekend and Helmet, while Aguayo does his trademarked multitracked droning and wailing; the whole thing is as invigorating as an ice cream headache.

The video, by the way, requires you to sign in to YouTube, owing to some semi-risqué content, although there’s nothing too terribly explicit about it. Mainly it’s just kind of creepy.

”Ice Cream” is out now on Warp, including vocal and instrumental versions along with “Black Sundome,” a psychedelic Caribbean meltdown.
