Bass Monkeys Remixes 2
Hatiras [Hatrax Records]
11 April, 2008 | 11.05AM- Section: Music Recommendations
Hatiras is back with an exclusive remix of ‘Bass Monkeys’ for Beatport.
Inside, a lucid, monotone, Sci-Fi vocal mutters things like “further field studies have yielded fascinating results”, going on to detail how monkeys, upon hearing certain frequencies, are driven nuts… concluding that “it must be the music!”
Well, we at Beatportal tested this theory on our pet monkey, and suffice to say she did nothing at all.
That is, until we played her ‘Bass Monkeys’ by Hatiras, which made the fickle simian break her shackles and start making ugly love to the CDJ-1000 linked to our Traktor Scratch system.
Jennifur, as she is known, grinded in perfect time to the pounding 130 BPM rhythm of ‘Bass Monkeys’, following its distorted, incessant groove with evolved precision.
Hatiras is responsible for some of yesteryear’s biggest dance music anthems, so it’s nice to see that he is staying true to his roots by infusing ‘Bass Monkeys’ with the carefree vibes of old, but still taking time to add enough grit and technological trickery to satisfy 2008’s hungry, dance music-loving fans.
One closing note – on this exclusive release you get a Clean and Dirty mix, complete with Instrumental.
