Bar 25: der Film

Bar 25: der Film

Bar25 may now be closed, but the good times will live on forever thanks to a new documentary, currently in production, covering the legendary riverside Berlin club.

Filmed across seven years, from the club’s opening to its much lamented demise, the footage highlights some of the venue’s most adventurous parties, anlong with interviews with DJs, artists, clubbers, and politicians.

The infamous nightspot (and dayspot, and, frequently, night-into-day-into-nightspot) was more than just a club: it doubled as a creative playground, restaurant, health spa, and much more, and it was widely hailed as a unique, free-spirited oasis all but unparalleled in contemporary electronic-music culture.

After years of rumors of its demise, Bar25 finally closed this year, having failed to overcome the contentious city politics that refused to accommodate the venue’s existence in the context of the gentrifying Spree.

The film still requires time and money before completion. You can support the project here.

The opening track is our very own Dirty Doering’s ”I Would,” a Bar25 anthem and homage released this year on the club’s in-house label.
