Bang The Box launches Beatport exclusive label

One of the premier techno and tech house parties in San Francisco, Bang The Box, has dropped their first release on their Beatport exclusive label of the same name.

The first release is a two-tracker by Lance De Sardi, label manager and one of the party’s residents.

Catch up with Lance as he talks about the ethos of both the party and the label.

So what’s up with Bang the Box?

Basically, It’s a party I helped start here in SF with Solar and Christian Mora.

We decided we wanted to do something that could really bridge the gap, party-wise, between the house and techno scenes.

Tech-house, some might call it… ;)

And the label?

Well I’ve wanted to do a label for a while now, and it seemed like a logical idea to tie it in with the boys and the party.

We do the party monthly, so we’re going to do a monthly release to coincide with every one.

And eventually we’d like to get each featured guest on a remix or original track.

So far we’ve had John Tejada and Dan Curtin, and we’re working on Gus Gus for the next one, so you can see the high level of talent we’re running with.

How would you describe Bang The Box 001?

It’s something I came up with called Match Point, backed w/ Moot Point.

Moot Point was the original tech-house thing that I did, which is pretty musical, and then I stripped it down for Match Point.

Since the later was a bit more of a banger, I went ahead and made that the a-side.

You switched it up, huh?

Ha! Yeah, it tends to be easier for me to make something a little more produced and song oriented, and then strip it back for the stormer!

So what’s up for the future of Bang The Box?

Well, the next release will be from me as well, called Itch, b/w Dope Hope.

After that will be a collaboration with all three of us from the label, which is coming out pretty great.

As far as the party goes, the next one is looking like February 2rd with President Bongo from Gus Gus.
