Bambaata (Break Remix)

Shy FX [Digital Soundboy Recordings...

Digital Soundboy Recordings kick off a remix series of big classics with Break’s take on Shy FX’s late nineties jungle classic ‘Bambaata’.

Break [a] has been flooring it recently with his hard-edged, poisonous tunes. His new album on Symmetry [a] has been applauded by everyone, whilst recent tunes such as ‘Splash Step’ and ‘Coming From the Top’ with DJ Die [a] have been on all the DJs playlists for the past few months.

Upping the tempo and filling the tune with some colossal bass the remix takes on a life of its own, with disgusting sludgy sounds that only Break can regurgitate.

Layered with tribal percussion and the animated sound of the jungle, Bristol’s hot-shot producer has constructed an atomic mega-bomb of a track that’s more jungle than jungle (if you know what I mean).

Perhaps one of the most interesting things about this track is when you compare the Break mix to the original you see not only how far technology has progressed within d&b, but how the structures, rhythms and tempos have also moved on in the ten year gap.
