Back in the Dating Game

Having been broken up with my boyfriend of 3 years and sulking over it for the last 3 weeks, I decided that it was high time to get out of my slump last night.  It was time to get out there, spend the night out on the town, and get a little wasted.  I was tired of being depressed, knowing full well that my ex was out there painting the town red. It was time that I should be going out on a date.

I had met a tall, dark, half Italian, half Thai guy at an indie rock show a couple days ago with my girl Milla.  He asked for my number and before I could say no (as I was clearly suffering still from a broken heart) Milla handed him my number scrawled with lipstick on a cocktail napkin. 

I hadn’t dated in 3 years and just minutes before he came to pick me up, I got nervous.  Am I ready to do this again?  Thoughts began flooding my head about awkward first date moments, uncomfortable silences, weird kisses (too much tongue, not enough tongue)… Just then, the doorbell rang and it was too late to claim incapacitation from food poisoning.  I couldn’t get out of it. 

As I opened the door, I gasped.  I had forgotten how gorgeous he was.  Food poisoning?  Cured!  He took me to a little Irish pub outside of town, a little quiet place to talk and get to know each other better.  While the conversation didn’t really go anywhere and the connection wasn’t really there, he was absolutely beautiful.  So this is dating…

The bill came and as I reached for the tab, he caught it first.  He demanded that he paid for it and after a few of my own suggestions to split it, he won the battle.  I insisted that the next time we go out (which I secretly hoped was soon) I would pay. 

After he slipped the money in the check holder, he excused himself to run to the bathroom.  I once waited tables and I found it was telling by how much someone tipped their server.  As I slipped open the check holder, I not only noticed that he was a great tipper, but the entire bill was paid on one dollar bills!  Could I be dating a male stripper???
