Stephan Hinz [Audiomatique Records]...

says on his MySpace page: “I really love music from people like Apparat, Sigur Ros, Coldplay, Barry White, Rachmaninov, Bela Bartok and so many more.
“It’s a big failure to confine oneself to just one genre or something like that...I try to listen to as much as I can.
“It’s so fantastic and exciting to find something you never heard before or something you heard a long time ago but with other ears.”
As a DJ and radio show host for his own show ‘Dasding Plattenleger’ on Berlin stations SWR DASDING and SR UNSERDING, Hinz listens to a lot of music in addition to producing his own.
Now Hinz has just completed a new EP called ‘Bacala’ on Audiomatique Records.
Along with his previous work on Kling Klong, Renaissance, Boxer and Great Stuff, this release is a dramatic one for the dance floor.
‘Bacala’ starts out with a steady rhythm and melancholic title track.
Building to a dramatic break, ‘Bacala’ is familiar and includes some interesting synthesizer work, and seething under-layers of darkness.
Adultnapper’s remix of ‘Bacala’ is tougher and freaked out.
He builds the track with a stronger, less dramatic, though more energetic beginning.
Adultnapper’s vocals are freaky and still contain the dark albeit twisted elements from the original track.
Hissing percussion and more distortion are both elements of the remix.
The exclusive digital track ‘Corrado’ is a bit more upbeat, with a lighter bouncier playful sound. In addition, calming effects, slower melodic keys and notes, come in.
The breakdown features beautiful almost classical sounding strings and then the rhythm kicks in again, reminding us that this is indeed dance music.
