Babylon Days
Pole Folder [Arctic Wave]
2 November, 2007 | 11.43AMBelgium’s Pole Folder
continues to branch out further his old roots with another new single for 2007.
After the summer’s ‘Buenos Aires EP’ on Hope Recordings follows this new track, the epic ‘Babylon Days’ on Icelandic imprint Arctic Wave
.
The original version is without a doubt one of Benoit Franquet’s most complex tracks to date, clocking in at over 10 minutes in length.
However, its somewhat prolonged nature provides a canvas over which layers of atmosphere and melody are blended into a throbbing, hypnotizing groove that pulsates in the deep centre of the track.
Some trademark Pole Folder strings add a touch of euphoria momentarily, but the precise, calculated arrangement of the track is what gives it its appeal.
Dousk’s version of the track is a funky, progressive trance interpretation, where the talented Greek strips things back, using some oscillating bass stabs and a cut up version of the melody to great effect.
A deeper, dub style version of the track from Funk Harmony Park and an additional peak time version by Royal Sapien fill out the rest of the package, broadening the single’s appeal and ensuring most DJs and styles are well accounted for.
Another great single from Pole Folder.
