Attack of the Artist Albums

Attack of the Artist Albums

Every year the music industry flexes its muscles in the spring and fall to push out their higher selling full length albums in time for summer vacations and winter holidays.

This spring is no different but it hasn’t gone without notice, at least for me, that the usual artist album rollout is of particularly high quality.

Considering the fact that most artist albums take months (and in many cases, years) to come to fruition, we can’t rely on the old ‘bad economy inspires good art’ argument.

What else could it be to have caused such a bombardment of acclaim-worthy productions?

Perhaps it is an economy argument afterall; not that the music is better, but that we are more appreciative of art in tougher times.

Or maybe electronic music has evolved to its logical maturation, where the integration of computer-generated sounds with analog instruments is finally at its very best.

Or is it just me?

Give us your thoughts, as well as your critiques.  Here’s a list of recently released albums for your reference (in no particular order):
