Armin Van Buuren to release live Ibiza mix CD

Despite the trend for mix compilations to be digitally mixed or Ableton-edited, Dutch trance DJ Armin Van Buuren‘s new mix compilation ‘Universal Religion 2008’ was recorded live at his Armada night at Amnesia in Ibiza, warts ‘n’ all.

Armin Van Buuren, who was recently voted the world’s No.1 DJ in the world in the annual DJ Magazine Top 100 DJs poll, even made sure to get the all important crowd noises on the Universal Religion 2008 mix to add to the ‘live’ feeling of the CD.

“It adds to the feeling, the experience, so you can feel like you’re there, having a great time with your friends,” said Armin, of the live element.

He didn’t even plan his set, he just went with what the crowd was feeling,

“I had the first two tracks lined up, and the rest I just chose as I played, gauged on the reaction from the dancefloor,” said Armin Van Buuren.

“Tracks like Big Sky, Sunlounger and Daydream are pure Balearic gems.

“It’s scary to record something live but once the music starts flowing you lose yourself to it.”

Armin Van Buuren has also been working in the studio on his upcoming artist album which is scheduled for release in early 2008.

And to support this new album, Armin will follow in the footsteps of fellow trance superstar DJ Tiësto and tour the globe with a new show called the ‘Armin Only’ concept, in which he plays long sets, supported by several live acts and performances.

The kick-off for his solo DJ show tour is planned for April 19th, 2008 in De Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
