Armand Van Helden’s new album

Armand Van Helden’s new album

Armand Van Helden [a] is now part of an elite group of dance producers to have made the transition from singles artist to album act with considerable ease, releasing singles that chart irrespective of quality.

He wears his influences for all to see on ‘Ghettoblaster’ (Southern Fried Records [l]) - from freestyle to old skool rave and even hip-hop from back-in-the-day.

Borrowing hooks from the likes of Company B, Todd Terry, and on ‘I Want You Soul’, Degrees In Motion’s ‘Do You Want It Right Now’.

Yet by not being afraid to show listeners his roots, he’s aligned himself and his music to them all the more closer.

And while there may be no out-and-out anthems like ‘My My My’, it’s still is an enjoyable commercially minded soundtrack nonetheless.
