Apple Tree
Apple Tree
Sian [Aus Music]
12 November, 2007 | 5.44PMIf thinking of music geographically, Sian
and Efdemin
would probably live just down the street from one another.
Both suckers for the atmospherics that a good quality pad sound can provide, having their names appear next to each other seems like one of the safest bets in house music.
No prize for guessing this is right on the money then.
‘Apple Tree’ is awash with textures of ambient white noise and itchy glitchiness.
At its core is deep house, although in a manner far too disorientating and wonky to be influenced by the classic US blueprint of the sound.
The bass protrudes from the swamp of sound like a beacon, giving the feel of recent Koze material, which is indeed a compliment.
By far, some of the most interesting dance music over the past 12 months has been the mainly German take on the classic deep house sound, at which Efdemin has been at the forefront.
The remix is instantly ballsier than the Original with a basic 3-note bass line and razor sharp hats cutting right to the chase.
Part-for-part, the whole thing gently purrs with class, the slowly evolving pad in particular being just exquisite.
For those with a penchant for the deep, this is a must have.
