Apologist, Angelfreq - Back To Love [Proton Music]
18 July, 2009 | 2.56AMItalian producers Salvatore Arancino (aka Sam Perez) and Matteo Bruscagin (aka Brusca) are together Apologist, an outfit which flew onto our radar in 2008 with their incredibly well written melodies & unique progresive/tech releases via Wave Music in 2008. The duo now joins Proton and presents “Back To Love”, teaming up with singer, songwriter, and producer Angelfreq (Angelique Bianca) from Spain, who recently has had a release on Audio Therapy including remixes from Jamie Stevens and Tiger Stripes.
A rather dark intro with sweeping strings lead up to a simple, yet effective beat in the original Vocal Mix. Angelfreq’s vocals play really well with the track’s rough synth riffs, bell melody lines and other various melodic stabs. The beat becomes full and driving, playing rather well with the rolling bassline. For those who’d enjoy the track without the vocals there’s also an instrumental mix available.
Subtle pad layers and a strong beat underneath introduce a dub of a remix from Russia’s Arthur Deep, well known for his releases on Silk Digital, Carica, Toes In The Sand, and Proton Music. His remix features melodic stabs, powerful themed riffs, and rolling bassline that keeps the well-written note pattern of the piece.
Australian producer PQM delivers the last remix, or as he calls it: PQM’s KISSFM Pass. PQM (aka Prince Quick Mix) has had a lot of releases on renown labels such as Renaissance, Yoshitoshi, and Abducted. This version though is more rough than the other mixes; the beat is really hard and the melodies aren’t as wet. The vocal from the original mix is chopped, effected, and sequenced into something else entirel. What results as much techier remix that rounds out this otherwise progressive release.
