Another classic house EP: ‘Keep On’ by Berkson and What

Another classic house EP: ‘Keep On’ by Berkson and What

London-based duo Dan Berkson [a] & James What [a] follow their last hit for Poker Flat at the start of 2008 with this collaboration which features Robert Owens on vocals.

The ‘Keep On’ original is a straight ahead deep house track with smooth vocals by none other than Chicago house veteran Robert Owens.

This song is a rhythmic imbibe that keeps ones’ toes tapping and feet moving.

The song’s message is one of peace, and anti-war in a way that doesn’t make one think about bad things, but rather all of the good hopeful things in one’s life…

This is a classic tune that can be played until the summer’s lingering end and beyond.

King Britt’s remix starts out banging with a splatter of rhythms coming in and the vocal, “Keep on…”.

It’s a much bouncier Chicago house style that’s jacking.

A few filters, heady spaced out atmospheric background noises, acid tweaks, and EQ changes, and you have a nice bouncy rendition by King Britt [a].

David Durango’s remix is smooth and cerebral with a tech-house sound apparent at the beginning.

By the time the vocal comes in it sounds a lot more progressive.

Some extra keys and a kick drum-driven breakdown is followed by a fierce ending.

The Live Mix of ‘Keep On’ is as promised.

Imagine Berkson and What at the helm of an analogue console with drum machines with Robert Owens on the microphone.

There’s an old school style of musicianship apparent.

There are no filters on this one, just simple rhythms and intricately placed vocals sprinkled throughout.

This version is a stripped down option.

‘Two Armadillos Instrumental Remix’ is once again stripped down to the basics. House karaoke anyone?

‘Stimming Remix’ is refreshing for its distorted sounds and fresh take on the track.

There are horns and strings used throughout which brings a big band sound to the grandiose and rather dramatic track.

But Stimming knows when not to over do it, and by the end of the track a more techy sound is prominent.
