Announcing the David Lynch “Good Day Today” remix contest
Announcing the David Lynch “Good Day Today” remix contest
1 February, 2011 | 8.59PMA few weeks ago, we announced the news that David Lynch had released a rather unexpected record for Sunday Best Recordings
—a two-track single of a distinctly electronic bent, at times reminiscent of Trentemoller, Gui Boratto, The Field, or Portishead, yet also unmistakably in line with the iconic director’s singular (and surreal) vision.
Last week, the plot thickened, as Sunday Best brought out a remix package featuring Underworld
, Sasha
, Boys Noize
, Ratcliffe
, Diskjokke
, Skream
, Jon Hopkins all delivering their own interpretations of Lynch’s noir-shaded music.
Now you have the chance to join those esteemed names in collaborating with the artist who brought us Twin Peaks, Mulholland Dr., Blue Velvet, The Elephant Man, and Eraserhead. Beatport and Sunday Best are giving you a shot at remixing Lynch’s “Good Day Today,” with the winning remix to be released on Sunday Best Recordings.
That’s not all. The creator of the winning remix also takes home one of our most generous prize packages yet, featuring a $200 Beatport gift voucher; Native Instruments’ Traktor Pro software, Audio 2 DJ interface, Traktor Kontrol X1 controller, and an X1 bag; a Sunday Best goodie bag; and, finally, the choice of one of two online music-production courses from Point Blank, featuring personalized video feedback. Point Blank has been voted “Best Music Production School” six times by the readers of DJ Magazine and has trained the likes of Claude Vonstroke and remixers for Beyonce and Rihanna.
Read on for full contest details, and then grab yourself some coffee - it’s gonna be a long night tonight, crafting your remix of “Good Day Today”!
