Animal Collective in hyperspeed
Animal Collective in hyperspeed
13 January, 2012 | 3.04AMNext time you’re working in the studio and you feel like you’re not getting anywhere with your music, perhaps you’ll find inspiration this video. The clip, posted today by Pitchfork, captures Animal Collective recording their 2007 album Strawberry Jam; they’ve compressed the entire recording process into just nine minutes. There’s a lot of skronk, quite a few grunts, and, during playback, almost non-stop chin-stroking. It’s a brilliant idea; our only question is, why the grainy, night-vision optics? Were they were hoping to lure Paris Hilton into the studio?
To check out Animal Collective at a more conventional speed, check out their catalog on Beatport here, including great remixes from the likes of Zomby, Pantha Du Prince, Dam-Funk, and more.
