Andreas Alessio presents Halo

The ‘Surrender’ project was started by the Romanian band Halo [a], a pop rock group from Constanta, Romania, formed from three artists: Lead vocalist Sorin Deacu, backing vocals Adrian Juganaru and Constantin Ciurariu.

At the beginning of March 2008, Andreas Alessio [a], a 18-year old producer from Targu Mures (RO) got in touch with the band for an eventual collaboration on a track, with clubbing remixes.

They immediately agreed, Halo deciding on ‘Surrender’ to be the representative track.

Constantin Ciurariu, being the link between the two parts, prepared the remix packs and materials, and Andreas started his first remix.

He worked for about a month on the track and it came out with a funky beat, quality sound and Sundesire Records instantly tasted it, spreading remix requests after the contracts were signed.

Now the ‘Surrender’ project comes out on Beatport along with seven different remixes of different genres, from tech house to trance, anyone being able to find a remix of their liking.

Below we have an interview with one of the main protagonists of this project, Andreas Alessio.

Andreas, how did you come up with the idea of collaborating with Halo?

It`s a pretty strange story.

I had 2 beatport releases at the time, the Energy EP (Indalo Rec.) and Medusa EP (Act 72 Rec.), and I had many other projects planned for the future.

The most important thing for me was making a vocal track.

Knowing that this can be a difficult thing, I was keen on trying something different, but I didn`t have the vocal material.

So I started browsing through MySpace.

After about 3-4 hours of searching for the appropriate sound, I came upon Halo`s page, a band who seemed very interesting to me and with very talented vocalists.

So I immediately got in touch with them.

We could say it was just a moment`s inspiration… or luck.

How did the Halo feel about this clubbing project, considering your music style?

They seemed to enjoy the idea, although they weren’t as enthusiastic as I was.

Constantin was a very big influence for them because he was more into house music than the other members and he also wanted to start working on this genre, now by the name of Virtual.

Did you find it easy to adapt pop rock sounds into house?

Yes, that wasn`t such a difficult thing to do because the guys recorded the samples at 125 bpm so I just had to fit them into the track.

I wouldn`t have imagined such a funky track at the beginning, it even surprised me when I realise where I started.

I never thought I could come up with such a juicy remix for a pop rock track.

So overall, what do you think about the remixes?

The remixes are quality material, with good sound and nice vibes, each of them being special in its own way.

The guys that worked on the project are friends of mine and Constantin`s, and some boys from the label: Holograma, Vesky, Virtual (Constantin Ciurariu), Sitak, The Kid, Aurumn Beats.

I don`t exactly know how the other guys dealt with remixing, but for me it took a few long nights and a lot of coffee to come up with the remix.

But when it was finished, I knew it was really worth it.

Do you think that the track will be working on the dancefloor?

Personally, I tried it myself a few times, played it in some local clubs and it went great.

Even though the people didn’t know the track, I recieved some good feedback, so I feel confident about the track being a bomb on the dancefloor.

I am really enthusiastic about this project and I am convinced that I will get a positive response.

Everyone gets caught up in the positive vibe of the track.

Another great thing is the diversity of genres of the remixes available.

Any DJ can find a version of the track that fits their music style.
