Amsterdam / Fuckat

Guy J [Dogtown]

The last few years have seen a resurgence in the number of talents to emerge out of Israel, with names like MoShic & Zidan having paved the way for those that have followed.

Of course, many of us are now more than familiar with the work of Guy Gerber and Shlomi Aber, but newcomers such as Chaim are already making their mark in the underground music scene, and now another newcomer by the name of Guy J [a] is fast carving his own groove, with several EPs on Deep Focus and a single (‘Agent Blue’) on Azuli leading up to this latest offering, a great two track release for new Belgian imprint Dogtown.

‘Amsterdam’ is a big summer style track, which quite simply has Ibiza hit written all over it.

Deep and groovy, it’s uplifting key changes and techy rhythms wash through the speakers, keeping the dancefloor moving as it shimmers and sways through a cascading wave of emotive melody.

‘Fuckat’ on the other hand, is a more understated piece of music, constructed around deep tribal style dubby beats, shaker percussion, with a great bassline driving through the centre.

The latest in a run of great releases from this talented newcomer.
