Amsterdam Dance Event: Get Set!
Amsterdam Dance Event: Get Set!
18 October, 2007 | 12.00PMEurope’s dance music industry is preparing for the invasion of Amsterdam for the annual Amsterdam Dance Event. Part music conference, part piss up, over 600 DJs and musicians, 1900 key professionals and around 65,000 clubbers are expected to turn out for the mammoth club festival which is now in its 12th year.
“Last year 15,000 people came from outside the Netherlands and this year we expect more visitors from abroad,” said ADE General Manager Richard Zijlma.
“Where else can you find a city festival providing such a rich and diverse line up of DJs and acts performing in one place?”
Starting Thursday 18th October 2007, for three days and nights Amsterdam will be the heartbeat of electronic music, with over 40 venues around the city having been earmarked for the occasion.
The wealth of talent appearing at ADE this year is simply staggering (check out the line-up in our event listing for ADE).
Music Business Conference
Apart from the supreme raving opportunities (check out Beatportal’s guide to the best ADE club nights for 2007), ADE is also a serious music conference where important business folk gather to discuss and debate key electronic music developments, as well as to swap business cards.
Famous international DJs like Paul Van Dyk sit on panels alongside record company execs and promoters to talk about things like the digital revolution and the globalisation of dance music.
Held in the centre of Amsterdam at the historic canal-side Felix Meritis building, the ADE conference is not only a great place to do business but also a place to get inspired.
“People in the industry see it more and more as essential to be here and the event has found its own dynamic and is growing every year,” commented Richard Zijlma.
BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong loves ADE too.
“I was very impressed with the set up, the location and the professionalism of the whole event,” said Tongy.
“Business was genuinely done in the day and the panels seemed to provoke some meaningful debates.
“The nightlife was pretty awesome and across three nights there were some amazing parties – all very busy and very exciting.”
Of course, asides from the wicked club nights and business opportunities, Amsterdam is a wonderful city to visit with many, ahem, provocative charms.
Cineac, powered by Beatport
Beatport will be there for the whole of ADE and for all three nights we’re sponsoring the cool Cineac club (Reguliersbreestraat 31 35), a club partly owned by Dutch superstar DJ Tiesto.
On Thursday 18th October Toolroom Knights will host a night of pumping house and electro featuring Gabriel & Dresden (who’ll be launching their new compilation) Dave Spoon, Mark Knight and D. Ramirez.
On the Friday French house hero David Guetta [check out his tunes in the player below], Netherlands’ DJ Jaziah and Chuckie will perform at Cineac.
On Saturday 20th October the Swedish House Mafia - Steve Angello, Sebastien Ingrosso and Axwell - will be doing their threesome turntable thing.
