press release:
Noted underground house imprint Amfibius recordings, based in San Francisco has announced today that it plans to re-enter the dj/music download market with a series of new releases planned over the next 6 months.
Established in 2003, Amfibius has since releases a string of critically acclaimed releases by top house artists like Jay Tripwire
, Alexander East
, & Rick Preston
. Amfibius has also hosted a series of fine remixes by artists like the Greenskeepers, Dj Ali, Blunted Funk, Randall Jones, The Dead Seal, & more.
Label head Sean Sullivan aka Dj Sulli has stated that the all new releases will be available in digital format only and the new trax will begin hitting the web starting September 10th through the top digi sites including Beatport, and others.
“We would love to do vinyl, but we’ve found it cost prohibitive at this time” said Sullivan of his choice to go strictly digital. Sulli went on to say “Sites like Beaport have been huge for us and it’s an ever growing market. I know for some, not doing vinyl reduces our “street cred”, but we hope this doesn’t deter dj’s from downloading our trax. For the purists, I guess we just have to hope the music wins them over”.
Amfibius ended a P&D contract in September 2006 with Rhythmic distribution in New York and is now represented by the top American distributor of digi format Electronica, IRIS distribution in San Francisco. Amfibius recordings has also recently signed with a second niche firm, Oseao in Seattle.
With these two companies supporting Amfibius, this next round of projects is sure to have an impact on the global dance music scene.
