All Night Long / Fahrenheit
All Night Long / Fahrenheit
Scope [Urbantorque]
15 November, 2007 | 3.24PMThis is the third Scope
release on Urbantorque
from Belfast boy Ric
McClelland, who again plumbs for the double A side format for the label.
It is difficult to be genre specific when describing both of theses tracks, with touches of funky, tech and progressive house seeping into the mix.
‘All Night Long’ could almost be described as trance-like in places on account of some spaced, dreamy synths and extensive use of delays and reverbs.
The track certainly evokes a mood in keeping with the theme, a kind a smooth euphoria if you will, although, on the whole, it’s just a bit too tame to be really effective.
‘Fahrenheit’ meanwhile has a bit of early 1990s vibe going on, particularly in the case of a rave style synth that makes a brief appearance around the 4-minute mark.
The gargantuan kick used feels too heavy for the more delicate elements that lay above it, throwing the balance of the track off somewhat.
Both these numbers could wriggle their way into a number of DJs playlists, although when compared with the previous Urbantorque release from Steve Ferrand, they fall a couple of lengths short.
