head honcho Alex Jones, ‘Hash Key’ opens works with a snaking riff, stripped back, Chicago-esque drums, and an edgy, up-to-the-minute attitude.
Simple yet smartly put together, it’s a useful tool for darker, late night moments with echoes of Poker Flat’s patented warehouse grooves.
Meanwhile, London’s man-of-the-minute, Jamie Jones (pictured) remixes ‘Hash Key’ on the flip with distinctively house-y results.
He layers searing strings over an endlessly rolling groove and creates a warmer alternative to the original’s devilish charms.
Super deep, but bristling with vitality, it’s a quality release for this cool new label.
