Album of the Week: Aril Brikha ‘Ex Machina’
6 August, 2007 | 10.01AM“The ethos behind my album is that I’m talking through my machines,” Aril Brikha
tells Beatportal. The Stockholm-based producer’s new LP ‘Ex Machina’ is full of dark techno beats, melodic trance lead lines and dubby basslines, so we’ve chosen it as our Album of the Week.
It’s a mesmerizing journey for the dancefloor.
But Aril Brikha modestly states “I don’t think my music stands out.
“It is electronic music, but it’s not all beats and bleeps.”
Being a dancefloor focused album, ‘Ex Machina’ is simply a collection of Brikha’s best work.
But bizarrely despite the obvious dancefloor moments, Aril never intended for ‘Ex Machina’ to be aimed at the club environment.
“I don’t make music aimed for the dancefloor, or for home listening,” says Aril.
“I just make music and if somebody actually feels like dancing to it, that makes things easier for me.”
“I didn’t set out to make an album, I just made some tracks and songs that hopefully at some point I could put together on a CD or vinyl.”
‘Ex Machina’ has made it into Beatportal’s Top 20 chart for August.
