Africa Hitech: Out in the Streets
30 June, 2011 | 3.03AMBass fanatics will surely be aware of Africa Hitech, the duo of Steve Spacek (of Spacek) and Mark Pritchard (aka Harmonic 313, and a member of Global Communication, Reload, Jedi Knights, and a passel of further projects, from ambient to electro).
Their recent album for Warp Records
, 93 Million Miles, has been a landmark in this year’s bass-music landscape, folding together elements of grime, juke, UK funky, and electronica into one thrilling, throbbing mass. Last week, they issued a VIP mix of album highlight “Out in the Streets,” battering the Ini Kamoze-sampling track with rough-and-tumble d’n’b breaks. The record includes three unreleased cuts, including the blinding digital bonus “Looking for the One”; get the full EP here.
Pritchard fans shouldn’t miss Global Communication’s Back in the Box, a new, double-disc mix set for NRK
; find out more about the mix, including tracklisting, here.
