ADE week: Interview with Rene Amesz

This week, as an introduction to our featured ADE party - This Is… presents Little Mountain Rocks - we are speaking to some of the DJs who are hoping to make this a closing party to remember.

Later in the week we will hear from Sander Kleinenberg [a], Josh Gabriel [a] and Patch Park [a] but in part one we chat with René Amesz from Little Mountain Recordings to gather his thoughts on the weekend in prospect.

Please introduce yourself and your musical style...

I’m René Amesz, artist on Sander Kleinenberg’s Little Mountain imprint. I’d like to describe my style of playing a bit between tech house, house and techno. As long as there is funk and enough musicality, I’m up for it.

What does the ADE mean to you?

As the ADE is one of the most important dance industry conferences, I’m there for the whole event this year. So many artists/promoters/label managers etc. are gathering in Amsterdam.

It’s an amazing way to promote my music and to meet new people, so it means a lot to me.

Will you be involved in the conference side of the event?

Yes. I have a lot of new music to let people hear. I will also start my label 25Hertz again as it was pretty quiet for a year. ADE is the perfect time to do this.

Do you have any favourite Amsterdam hotspots?

Studio 80 is definitely one of my favourite clubs in Amsterdam. Also Panama is an amazing club, and I can’t forget Paradiso - I have had a several magic moments over there.

The Melkweg is a great club, too, and should be a good base for the upcoming This Is… Little Mountain Rocks party!

How are you associated with Little Mountain Recordings?

I’m about to release my fifth EP on Little Mountain and I’m honored to be the first to mix the Little Mountain Rocks CD compilation at the end of October.

Give us a quick plug for the Little Mountain Rocks party!

Ouch…that one’s got to be the night I’ve been looking forward to for a few months now.

Sander, Matthew Dekay, Patch Park…an amazing line-up in an awesome venue!

What’s coming up for you production-wise?

I did a lot of remixes lately for Funkerman, Baggi Begovic, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour.

In mid-October ‘Ploert’ will be released on Noir Recordings.

A few weeks later it’s ‘Korona’ which is going to be released on Little Mountain Recordings.

Furthermore I’m busy doing original work on my own as well as collaborations with Wally Lopez & Tommyboy.
