We’ve all been there - you’ve just picked up a hot new track, you listen to it through, and you think: “This is cool, but it could really do with more cowbell, and some Christopher Walken samples.”

Now, a new website allows you to do just that with almost any track from your MP3 collection.

Morecowbelldj.com was inspired by a famous sketch on Saturday Night Live, where Walken played a cameo role as producer of Blue Oyster Cult.

Walken’s immortal line, “Needs more cowbell,” went on to become a minor internet phenomenon, and was listed as number five in a recent poll of Saturday Night Live’s most memorable moments.

The application was built using the Echo Nest Analyze API, a tool that enriches your software’s understanding of music.

According the the website, “it uses a perceptual model of human listening to generate detailed XML descriptions of a song’s structure and musical content to power music applications with a much deeper musical understanding.”
