Above & Beyond carbon neutral release

Trance trio Above & Beyond [a] will make history tonight when they begin the world tour for their new mix compilation ‘Anjunabeats Volume 5’, which is the world’s first-ever carbon neutral DJ tour.

The international superstars have pledged to offset the carbon emissions they produce during their tour, by contributing to the Carbon Fund.

For every flight the boys take, they will donate the equivalent monetary value that is required to offset the emissions through conservation projects run by carbonfund.org.

Ultra [a] [l] Records, Above & Beyond’s American home, are well behind the boy’s eco-friendly attitude.

“Music fans and music people have always been at the forefront of changing society,” commented Ultra Records’ CEO Patrick Moxey.

“The 1960s and 1970s had their important social issues.

“Nothing is more important to our generation than the effects of global warming and Above & Beyond and Ultra Records are proud to contribute to the Carbon Fund.”

Despite what some may think, Above & Beyond’s environmental awareness is neither new, nor a tactical PR ploy.

Beatportal recently spoke to A&B’s Tony McGuiness who revealed that they have always felt guilty about their sizable carbon footprint as international globetrotting DJs.

“Global warming worries me more than anything else,” he said.

“We always try to take the train or public transport to gigs, but obviously if you’re playing in Brazil the only way to get there is on a plane.

“So we investigated carbon-offsetting and started contributing to a fund a few months ago.

“At first we didn’t tell anyone because we felt it was a personal decision that the three of us had made, but then we realised we could set an example and let the dance industry know about it.

“Hopefully by us doing our bit, others will follow suit.”

Above & Beyond [a] kick start their carbon neutral tour at Made At Pacha in NYC tonight.
