Ableton, Cycling ‘74 partnership

A new strategic partnership between Ableton and Cycling ‘74 has been announced which will bring the programming power of Max/MSP to Ableton Live.

Some of the new additions to Ableton’s Live software first found their foothold as Max/MSP prototypes.

The ‘Operator’ is one example of such a feature.

Although there has not been an official product announcement of any kind, the seeds have been sewn for some very interesting developments.

We’ll have to wait and see just exactly what pans out, but Beatportal suspects the audio modding/hacking community will be the target with eventual Max/MSP integration.

This will most likely lead to rapid and widespread development of third-party Live plugins and most certainly an endless supply of Wii-mote/Ableton homebrews.
