“DeepSound Academy, Volume 1”: First Release of 2009

Montréal – Thursday, January 22, 2008 – DeepSound Records (http://www.deepsoundmusic.com) is proud to announce its preliminary schedule for 2009, with great material by a mix of new and veteran artists.

The first release of the year, out Friday, January 23, will feature an up-and-coming talent hailing all the way from the frigid Russian Pacific coast, Midex (www.myspace.com/djmidex) - born Pavel Belyakov - with the heart-warming “Your Love” and “Sudden Solutions”.
The two-track EP, DeepSound Academy, Volume 1, is the first in a series which will feature the best new artists on the global underground scene.
February 6 will also be a big day for DeepSound as Montréal’s Max Julien will be back with a powerful 2009 update of “Valentine Dream”, with remixes by Sami Dee (Paris), Christian Arenas (Barcelona), Midex (Russia), and Fred Groulx (Montréal).
Christian Arenas (www.myspace.com/cristianarenas), a proud Catalán citizen, will be well represented in February with “The End Of My World”, with mixes by fellow Barcelonian Sergi Domene as well as label head Max Julien, out February 20
March will roar in like a lion with a progressive ditty which is sure to fill dancefloors, as DeepSound mainstay Fred Groulx will thrill with his first non-remix release on the label, with the great “4am”, including mixes by Mike Emvee (Ottawa) and DJ Dalysovich (Tunisia), with more to come. Release date: March 6.
Morgan King & Max Julien will release their first single as a duo on March 27, with the aptly-named “Lifetime of Understanding”, in honour of the latter’s 25-year anniversary as a club DJ. The track, recorded in King’s studio in London, which will be co-promoted by UK label Accidental Music (www.accidentalmusic.net)
The release will include remixes by veteran Brazilian house/tribal producer Marco Zappala (Rio de Janeiro) – www.myspace.com/marcozappala – as well as Saul B (Quebec City) – www.myspace.com/saulbdj – known for his work with Yoshitoshi Recordings and Proton Radio.
The team was definitely destined for greatness, combining more than 55 years in the music industry. In fact, Morgan King (www.myspace.com/morgankingmusic), a 30-year veteran of the underground music scene, is best known as the brains behind Clubland, the 90s house super-group, with such classic hits as “Set Me Free”, and especially, the worldwide smash, “Hold On Tighter (To Love)”.
2009 will keep getting better with spring releases by singer Matt Lorentzen (London/Sydney) with “Garden Of Eden” and Sami Dee’s “Just Believe”. More details to come.
DeepSound Records is dedicated to promoting well-known international producers and singers as well as established and up-and-coming Canadian artists – all within the house music spectrum.
