Like DJ Naughty last summer, Jones and Dreier offer a pair of contrasting cuts here, each named after the gender they’re supposed to appeal to.
Essentially, it’s minimal moodiness for the boys, and deep disco grooves for the girls.
‘A Man’ is darkly warbling, featuring a slightly atonal lead synth squawk and standard issue minimal beats.
That’s no criticism, though - you can imagine it working well on more aggressive, bloke-ish dancefloors.
Indeed, sometimes, a sinister, stripped-down workout is exactly what is called for.
Meanwhile, the shimmering disco swing of ‘A Woman’ sounds not a million miles away from Justus Kohncke’s finest work.
Its swirling pianos, swelling strings and loose-limbed groove instantly conjure up images of dancing and smiling on some gorgeous terrace at sunset – an early Sonar/Ibiza anthem, perhaps?
It’s a smart juxtaposition on the label’s part, offering something for the minimalists as well as for the deeper tech-house fans.
But in the end, as is so often the case, the fairer sex wins the day.
