Boxcutter’s latest album on Planet Mu, ‘Arecibo Message’ has been described by many as his greatest and most intelligent body of work yet.

‘A Familiar Sound’ lifted straight off the album, and originally released on his own label Kinnego Records, see’s Barry Lynn opt for a more jazzy, off step vocal feel, a vibe which brings this Northern Irish producer into new territory.

Thoroughly rinsed by Radio 1 experimental mistress, Mary Anne Hobbs, ‘A Familiar Sound’ features electro funk duo, Kinnego Flux who add a whole new degree of funk and uplifting vocals to Barry’s texturally off kilter and dynamic beat patterns.

Named after the infamous signal sent into space to find new alien life, ‘Arecibo Message’ does its own brand of exploration.

Those who have experienced Barry’s previous works through ‘Oneiric’ and ‘Glyphic’ will affirm that ‘A Familiar Sound’ is by far his most upbeat and cohesively, song structured track yet.
