99% welcomes back Timo Maas
25 March, 2008 | 10.32AM- Section: Music News
After an absence of five months, we welcome Timo Maas back to The End with open arms and a feeling of excitement as to what tasty house and techno nuggets he’s been storing up for us.
For an artist who produced or remixed 85 tracks in 3 years, Timo has been keeping a relatively low profile recently…but not for much longer by the sound of things! He’s keeping tight lipped about exactly what he’s got up his sleeve, but we’re told it’s pretty exciting.
All Timo will reveal is that he’s got a top secret project on the go with production partner Martin Buttrich - so keep your ears open and watch this space.
In the meantime, we can look forward to another of Timo’s musical adventures in The End’s main room on Saturday 29th March. Timo made his name with his funk-driven, squelchy take on techno - turning out speaker shattering mixes of Moloko, Depeche Mode and Azzido da Bass, plus numerous original productions which stormed dancefloors – and sometimes the charts - both under his own name and under aliases including Orinoko and Mad Dogs. More recently, his third album ‘Pictures’ produced the beautifully quirky ‘Slip In Electro Kid’, the first track on Dixon’s brilliant Body Language mix released last year. These days his DJ style takes in every shade of house, techno, electro and more – but always with a burning energy and ability to get even the weariest feet leaping into the dancefloor.
Supporting Timo in the main room will be the excellent Disciples of Sound. Having recently remixed Dubfire’s ‘Roadkill’, launched their own label Mode’ and received support from artists such as Carl Cox and Steve Lawler, the profile of this pair is set to rise and rise in 2008.
Up in AKA, Sancho Panza bring a breath of sunshine to AKA with their fat tunes and carnival spirit. There’s never a long face in site when this pair are behind the decks weaving a colourful pattern of house and electro, mixing up cutting edge with classics, to keep your feet dancing and your face grinning all night long.
