80808 Dub

Bassbin Twins [Bassbin Twins]

Pete Houser, aka Bassbin Twins [a] (yes he’s only one man, but pretends to be two to get more money for live gigs, probably) is totally removed from other breaks producers within his field.

In terms of production, style and ingenuity Bassbin Twins is in a league of his own, and the new ballistic breaks bomb ‘80808 Dub’ shows why.

Leaning towards an earlier US breaks sound, the track is a full on 808 affair and could have easily been made before the days of funky and nu-skool breaks.

Kicking off with a klaxon siren (we need more of these in modern day music), the track launches into a tirade of synthetically produced breakbeats.

The track is mildly reminiscent of the Plump DJs [a] ‘Electric Disco’ and it has an early Dave Clarke [a] flavour to it.

With contemporary nu-skool breaks scraping the barrel of creativity and failing to distinguish itself, this track is a breath of fresh air in what has lately been an almost stagnant scene.
