Hot off the release of his sophmore album for Regular, Pablo Bolivar releases a new EP for LA’s [[Absurd Recordings, this release is soaked with dubbed out grooves.

Pablo has developed his growing songwriting talents crafting songs into atmospheric soundscapes brimming with ideas, energy & texture. Warm dubby beats on this one from our Barcelona friend.

We decided to take 3 minutes to ask Pablo about his latest release, his process and some insight on the Barcelona scene.

How long have you been making music?

My first production was in 1999 but my first official release was in 2004, NEXT PLAYER on the Regular Label.

What type of gear does your studio set up consist of?

In the beginning I was using an MC303, YAMAHA RMX1, some Modular EFX and my computer with Cubase, but now I use software exclusively.

Was there a specific influence for these songs in particular?

I was remembering labels like Force Inc and Force Tracks, Kanzleramt, I220, Scape...this was my main influence, the late 90´s deep techno music!

How is the scene in Barcelona outside of the Sonar festival?

The scene in Barcelona is dead for me. Nothing interesting except Becool Club, they make the most interesting nights in Barcelona. In the others clubs, one day it can be good, but the next one is horrible!
