53rd Annual Grammys announced

53rd Annual Grammys announced

So the Grammy nominations for 2011 have gone up. (What’s that sound? Oh, right: the collective sigh of thousands of dance-music fans as they shrug their shoulders in jaded resignation.) No, the Grammys will never be much of a reflection of dance-music culture in all its complexity; the “underground,” by and large, doesn’t figure anywhere into the Grammys’ accounting. Still, the nominations always provide an instructive look at what the suits in Hollywood and New York consider groundbreaking (or at least bankable).

Read on for the nominations in electronic/dance music.

You can find the full list of nominees here.

So, what do you think? Do you feel like your tastes, or the scene in general, are represented by these nominations? What would you rather see in their place? (And I’m not talking about underground fare without even a remote chance of winning; what other semi-mainstream, or at least broadly accessible, records might conceivably have made the cut?)

Finally, what are the odds on Michael Jackson winning Best Male Pop Vocal Performance?
