S.M.D.? No not Simian Mobile Disco, this kid is S.M.D. as in Suck My Decks! 

The name may throw you off a bit but hey, take it easy on him, he’s only 16.  What was your first DJ name? 

Once you get past the name it gets quite interesting...his music that is.  As far as biographical information S.M.D. is a closed book that we’ve been trying to open since hearing his first EP ‘Stop Chasing Rainbows’ out on Nightrain Music. 

S.M.D. brings together the up to the minute sound of what’s happening in techno along with eerie downtempo to make some very twisted “above a normal 16-year old’s head” music.  There are two sounds...dancefloor oriented music and sitting at home watching the shadow people sadly pass by music.  “Stop Chasing Rainbows” was a perfect example of this while his new ep “Synapse” lends more to the dancefloor than the later incorporating techno, progressive and the cool new “techno lectro” sound that’s been spawned from electro house’ demise. 

Few 16 year olds can comprehend what this music is, most are caught up in the MTV generation where only the most mass appealing music is heard but not this kid.  S.M.D. is one to watch in the future and who knows where his head will be at in 5 years if he’s where he’s at now.  Only time will tell.
