With its political and economic instability, Venezuela’s DJs, producers, club promoters and artists are struggling, as I found out chatting to Venezuelan producer Moreon aka Gustavo R. Moreno.
President Hugo Chavez has crippled the electronic music scene indirectly.
“We don’t care who is president, or who is in government. We just want to make music, DJ and have good parties,” he says.

Meet Buenos Aires’ hottest trance duo: Heatbeat
7 March, 2008From the underground trance clubs of Buenos Aires, Heatbeathttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif have risen to become one of the hottest new names in trance music.
The duo of Agustin Servente (21 years old) and Matias Faint (23) has everyone from Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk and Ferry Corsten excited - every one of Judge Jules’ radio shows in the last three months has featured a Heatbeat tune [except one].
We grabbed Heatbeat to find out more about their past and Buenos Aires’ trance scene.

- Check out Barem on Beatport
Meet Baremhttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif, real name Mauricio Barembuem.
He’s 24 years-old, and grew up in Buenos Aires so he’s a homeboy.
He looks like a younger Hernan Catteneo, with floppy brown locks and a cheeky smile.
He also speaks perfect English, which isn’t suprising since he spends half his time in Berlin.
Barem happens to be one of the hottest properties in minimal techno currently with releases on Minus, Resopal, Mo’s Ferry and Leftroom.
He’s also been nominated as Best Minimal Artist in the Beatport Music Awards and his remix of Luka & Lazo ‘Dust No.4’ has been nominated for Best Remix of 2007.
We sat down with Barem in Buenos Aires to find out more.

- Get 'This Is Audio Therapy: Digitally Mixed By The Presslaboys' on Beatport
The Presslaboyshttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif (or Luigi Gori and Omar Neri to their mums) are now into their tenth year of making cutting edge dance music.
Never out of their depth amongst their peers, their taut blend of minimal, and at times ethereal techno music, has seen them in the past grace releases on Steve Lawler’s Viva Music, Crosstown Rebels and SAW Records.
The Italian duo’s latest release now comes via Audio Therapyhttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_l.gif (one of my favourite and certainly the most consistent labels of the genre) with the aptly titled compilation ‘This Is Audio Therapy: Digitally Mixed By The Presslaboys’ — and they’ve been lovingly mixed.
