To tell the truth, I didn’t have as great a time as I thought I would last Friday night at PachaNYC. Maybe my stars were out of alignment.

The music was phat, the club was boss, and the crowd was hott. But somehow my spirits were, well, dispirited. Kinda like a weak but pricey well drink.

Mr. Ferrer was just setting up his laptop when I found an observation post on the mezzanine. He runs Vista (gasp!).

Miami’s Winter Music Conference always has its fair share of ‘off da hook’ parties, but AM Only, Pacha and Made Event have something special planned for WMC this year.

For one night only top DJs will play back-to-back sets at Miami’s Karu & Y club on Friday 28th March, rather than solo sets, which should create some interesting musical matches.

The Barcelona-based Polish MC, RQM, was on his way to do a show with Jahcoozi when things went terribly wrong during his arrival at the Turkish airport — resulting in confinement.

Ok don’t shoot me, but I’ve chosen a hard house record as a dance anthem. Now before you go and write me off as some day glo wearing freak with fluffy leg warmers you should hear me out.

Hard house, as much as it is difficult on the ears, has had a few good records, especially in the 2003 / 2004 era when it experienced a boom in the UK.

As the name implied, it was dark and in parts boarded on the progressive and twisted sub-genres of house, but it was the chant: “I am addicted to drums and a slave to the dark beat” that immediately comes to mind when listening to Ralph Falcon’s latest solo production ‘The Dig’.

The date for the United States’ answer to Berlin’s Love Parade — the annual San Francisco LoveFest — has been announced.

LoveFest takes places this year on Saturday, October 4th, 2008, accompanied by a parade and several coordinating events throughout the city.

Each year for the event, San Francisco as it is normally known comes to a standstill as clubbers and music lovers converge upon the city for a little bit of dancin’ in the streets, west coast style.
