On Saturday, March 1st 2008, eight of the Twin Cities finest DJ’s come together for an all out tag-team dance music event! As part of the ongoing “BLACK Saturdays” event in First Avenue’s VIP Room, DJ’s theDEVIOUSone, Jonathan Ackerman, Aaron Bliss, Jon Hester, OdDio, and Dustin Zahn join long time Minneapolis dance promoter and DJ Nik E. Gunz for a fundraising event to assist in Nik’s recently acquired medical bills.  As an avid promoter, DJ, and supporter of the Minneapolis dance world for more than a decade, Nik has played an important role in both the initiation and sustainability of dance music in the Minneapolis scene. He has worked with private promotions to help bring some of the greatest deejays in the world to Minneapolis and with weeklies in some of the cities most loved venues.

Ironically during a time of great passion and discussion for the reformation of our medical care system, Nik found himself immersed in the personal experience of a health care crisis. He was hospitalized in early January, without insurance, at HCMC Hospital for multiple symptoms arising from complications of having survived Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a form of cancer.  In early February Nick will be transferred to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester so that a specialist team may help diagnose his ailments.

Nik’s friends have come together to host a benefit in order to ease the burden of medical costs, unpaid vacation leave and traveling expenses.  We ask that you join us in celebrating one of Minneapolis’ finest DJ’s.  If you are able to participate as a sponsor of the event or a donor for the silent auction, please contact Elizabeth at
